5. Principal’s Remarks:
Kindness Club Committee: 3rd grade students only since they aren’t apart of student council or NHES. 3rd graders loved it – they had to fill out an application; first service was having students write notes to teachers. Be the “I” in kind bulletin board. Club meets afterschool. Trying to reteach kids how to talk to kids after being at home for so long. Survey results given by school, we were low on “I feel heard by my peers.” Included in campus improvement plan. Redoing the survey to see if there is improvement. Gives 3rd graders to have a leadership role on campus – may expand to older grades in future
March 24th: the GT showcase in library 1-3 pm; parents invited and more information will be sent home ; Ms. Caskey is in charge of GT committee
March 29th: District Science Fair for students that participated (GT had to participate)
April 6th: 3rd Grade field trip to Fort Bend Museum
2nd Grade field trip to HMNS
Vocabulary parade was big success! Outside with parents wrapped around school to cheer on kids
Excited for Multicultural Night and Open House
Teacher request: can Field Day help with Field Day now that Ms. Areolla can not work anymore; field day shirts need to be taken care of – pe team has the money, but needs help organizing / handing out t-shirts – is it a fundraiser? – We will just assign color to each grade level to keep it easier unless Coach Arreolla says she needs it to fundraiser – stick to primary colors.
Parent input to tone down dress up days: Read Across America; Red Ribbon Week; 100th Day and any district assigned days.
6. Committee Reports
· Yearbook – upcoming help needs – nothing coming up; Sierra is working on it – Ms. Atkins needs to send over the file of all the fall pictures for the year book; Year Book cover contest: staff narrowed it down to top 4 and students will pick top cover after Spring Break – could have all leadership clubs do the voting to keep it easier.
· VIPS
o Field Day – update on plans : 5/12 on a Friday – will need a lot of volunteers – all day event – we’ve got the ball rolling on this. We’re going to see if we can get tents and jugs of water so kids can re-fill water bottles. Talking about next year doing it the Friday before Spring Break so it is cooler.
